Metronet – Morley Ellenbrook Line
The Morley to Ellenbrook Line project is part of a staged initiative targeting improvement and integration of transport options in Perth’s north-eastern corridor. The project aims to deliver approximately 21km of rail infrastructure and ancillary works to support operational passenger rail between Bayswater and Ellenbrook. It includes design and delivery of five stations including intermodal bus and rail, with parking and associated roadworks at Morley, Noranda, Malaga, Whiteman Park and Ellenbrook stations, and ancillary works at the Bayswater Station.
FSC's Role
Major subcontractor engaged by MELconnx to construct the following key elements of the works:
- Beechboro Road bridge over rail (Bridge 1)
- Whiteman Park dual viaduct structure (Bridge 2)
- Whiteman Park dual underpass structures (Bridge 3)
- Bayswater Station viaduct structure (Bridge 4)
Scope of works
- Construction of all structural foundations, reinforced concrete walls, skirt beams, shear keys and diaphragms etc for the abutments, wing walls, bridge piers and footings, bridge walls and deflection walls.
- Construction of pier columns, and pier headstock.
- All formwork, reinforcing steel, concrete, precast installation & associated works.
- Installation of all bridge parapets, balustrades, transition barriers, concrete barriers etc.
- All associated temporary works (including associated design).
- Construction of Water Corp open drain
- Detailed earthworks and drainage installation

Karel Avenue Upgrade – Bridge Construction & Widening
The $28.7 million Karel Avenue Upgrade for Main Roads WA was part of the State Government’s METRONET project. The upgrade included road widening works from Farrington Road to the Berrigan Drive roundabout and modifying roundabout approaches to enable two lanes in each direction.
FSC's Role
Major subcontractor engaged by Georgiou to undertake all bridge construction and widening works for the project including the widening the existing Karel Avenue bridge over Roe Highway and construction of a replacement bridge over the ARC freight line using a top-down approach. Key elements included,
- Bridge 1595 (Bridge construction over rail)
- Bridge 1482 (Bridge widening over Roe Highway)
Scope of works
- Construction of substructure piers (footings, bridge piers and restraint blocks, bearing pads and bearings).
- Construction of abutments (MSE wall panels, wingwalls, footings) – in situ and cast in items.
- Construction of all temporary works.
- All reo, formwork and concrete pours.
- Installation of tee-roff beams (including temporary electrification screens).
- Bridge deck and approach slab construction (including supply and installation of all expansion joint components.
- Installation of median bridge barrier and transition barriers for full bridge length.
- Supply and installation of all miscellaneous steelworks and cast in items e.g. bolts, brackets & expansion joint cover plates .

Metronet – Thornlie Cockburn Link & Yanchep Rail Extension
METRONET’s Thornlie-Cockburn Link is Perth’s first east-west rail connection, servicing the communities between the Mandurah and Armadale lines. The Thornlie-Cockburn Link is being built within existing rail corridors requiring a number of changes along the alignment including: - Relocating the freight lines to the northern half of the corridor to make room for the passenger lines in the southern half. - Replacing the Cameron Street-Elliot Place pedestrian level crossing with a footbridge over the rail for safer access. - Modifying the Ranford Road and Karel Avenue road bridges to accommodate the extra set of track and meet safety standards.

- Installation of median bridge barrier and transition barriers for full bridge length.
- All reo, formwork and concrete pours.
- All associated temporary works including design.
- Installation of electrification and anti-throw screens.
- Installation of all electrical conduits.
- Construction of 8.5 m high L-Shaped retaining walls
- Installation of 4km of drainage infrastructure within the rail corridor.

Tonkin Gap Alliance – Tonkin Gap Bridge Construction
The $290 million Tonkin Gap Project was implemented to address the current bottlenecks where the highway, which carries approx. 120,000 vpd, reduces from three lanes to two lanes in Bayswater and Redcliffe. It is also providing rail-enabling works for the METRONET Morley-Ellenbrook Line along Tonkin Highway. The project runs from Tokin Highway at Collier Road to Dunreath Drive and includes the Guildford Road interchange and crosses the Swan River.
FSC's Role
Major subcontractor engaged by the TGA to construct:
- the substructure and casting bed for the
incrementally launched bridge spanning
the Swan River, - dual rail bridges over road at the Morley
Drive intersection, and - three footbridges at the Great Eastern
Highway interchange.
Scope of works
- Construction of the launched bridges casting beds and beams.
- Construction of pier footings, piers and restraint blocks – including installation of pier bearing pads and bearings.
- Construction of all substructure pier and pilecap footings, wingwalls including all cast in items for the abutments.
- Landing and securing tee-roff beams and the supply and construction of all edge protection prior to beam lifts.
- All form, reo and pour scopes associated with the works.
- Pre-pour and insitu pours for decks, piers, columns and abutments.
- Median concrete barrier, bridge barrier for full bridge length.
- All associated temporary works designs and installations.
